University network maintenance: 2-4 January 2008

As you may be aware, essential maintenance work in the University's data centre has been scheduled to start on Wednesday 2 January 2008, and is expected to be completed on Friday 4 January.

This will effectively mean that nearly all networked services (email, websites, etc.) will be unavailable during this period. Furthermore, the Library's circulation system will also be out of action - neither WebCat nor our computerised loans system will be operating.

The Libraries will be open, but some services are necessarily restricted.

  • Access to study space and photocopying will be unaffected.
  • Loan Services will be very restricted.
  • Books may be borrowed and returned, but there will be no online user services, including holds, inter-library loans, renewals and inter-site loans.
  • No holds can be serviced during the period of the outage, and there will be restricted access to returned stock.

We apologise for any inconvenience during this period.
