New combined printing/copying service for students

Instead of separate equipment and payment systems for ISS printing and library photocopying, a combined system based on multi-functional devices (MFDs) is being introduced for students, first as a pilot service at Winchester School of Art, then across the University.

This new approach results from a collaboration of ISS, the Library and Ricoh UK.

Winchester School of Art pilot service - from 1 April 2008

A Ricoh Equitrac printing system with associated hardware will be installed at Winchester School of Art in the 'gallery' PC workstation room, and three library areas. This will allow for complete installation on a test site and will provide knowledge of best practice for implementation. Features of the new system include:

  • Combined print/copy machines ('multi-functional devices' or MFDs)
  • Access via log-in with University username and password
  • Combined print/copy credit account
  • New touch-screen money loaders for topping up print/copy credit
  • Transfer stations to move existing copy credit to the new combined account
  • Guest user accounts for external users

ISS staff will be on hand to help users when the service is introduced. Instructions will be available at the MFDs and money loaders.

If you require further information, please contact the ISS ServiceLine.

Roll-out to the whole University

Following the WSA pilot service, the Ricoh Equitrac system, servers, and Ricoh MFDs will be extended to all sites to realize a complete integrated student printing and library copying service.
