Hartley Library staffed photocopying service

The opening hours of the photocopying service at the Hartley Library will be reduced to 10:00 - 13:00 from Monday 1 December until the end of term.

From Monday 15 December the service will no longer operate as a self-financing unit and the work room on Level 2 of the Hartley Library will be closed.

We recognise that this has been a valued service. However a number of factors have led to its inability to sustain itself. Demand has declined markedly over the past three years as electronic access has grown. The Library is actively pursuing a strategy to increase electronic resources. The new print management system, which was implemented at the start of this session, has removed the need to support self-service copying.

We will respond to residual demand which cannot be met in any other way but we expect that this will be quite small and likely to decline. This will answer the needs of those with whom we currently have funded arrangements, copying requested from other Library sites, and those with physical disabilities who are unable to use the self-service machines.  Further information about these arrangements will be publicised in due course.

Items which cannot be borrowed may be copied on any of the self-service printer/copiers in the Hartley Library. They are situated on Levels 1, 2, 3 and 4. Provision on Level 2 includes the Reserve Collection, the Assistive Technology Service and the workstation rooms. All the machines offer copying and printing in a range of paper sizes, duplex, and colour. The prices are lower than those which the Library currently charges for staffed copying.

Staff should use their ID and password to activate this system. The cost will then be charged to their School. iSolutions are responsible for the equipment and the administration of the system. They will answer all enquiries via ServiceLine.
