Pure: New research information system

Published: 16 March 2017

The University recently launched its new research information system, Pure.

Pure replaces ePrints for depositing research outputs, although ePrints continues as the University's repository for web discoverability.

Pure contains information drawn from our finance, student and human resources systems, providing academic staff and postgraduate students with a comprehensive overview of their research portfolio. This improved level of access should enhance opportunities for research networking and facilitate analysis of our research.

Since 1 April 2016, researchers have been depositing their accepted manuscripts for journal articles and conference proceedings at the point of acceptance, in line with HEFCE's Open Access policy. The reporting capabilities in Pure will help to ensure Open Access compliance and the eligibility of outputs for the next Research Excellence Framework (REF).

Pure is intuitive to use but a range of support is already available, including Library- and Faculty-based experts and online user-guides which can be accessed via the Pure web pages at www.soton.ac.uk/pure. Comprehensive training will be provided as well as a regular series of drop-in sessions.

Regular updates and information relating to Pure will be posted on Twitter (@UoS_Pure), but if you have any queries please email eprints@soton.ac.uk for research output queries, or for all other queries, email pure@soton.ac.uk
