Ebooks
Electronic books, or ebooks, are generally electronic forms of printed books. They may be reference works, textbooks or any other form of book and, like ejournals, often have added functionality over their print equivalents.
ACLS History E-book
Over 3,000 books in all fields of history selected by scholars from the American Council of Learned Societies, published from the 1820's to date, fully searchable, with 250 new books added a year.
American National Biography
Biographical articles on over 17,000 people who have influenced the USA. As well as ANB's own entries there are 900 articles from The Oxford Companion to United States History.

Early English Books Online
About 115,000 full text Early English books from 1475-1700. Includes titles listed in Pollard & Redgrave's Short-Title Catalogue (1475-1640) and Wing's Short-Title Catalogue (1641-1700) and their revised editions, as well as the Thomason Tracts (1640-1661) collection and the Early English Books Tract Supplement.

ebrary Academic Complete e-book collection
The library has access to the ebrary Academic Complete collection of e-books. This is a growing e-book collection spanning all academic subject areas.

Eighteenth Century Collections Online (ECCO)
Everything published in letterpress in England, Wales, Scotland or Ireland, plus all publications in English printed abroad, between 1700 and 1800. Over 135,000 eighteenth-century printed books, with more than 26 million scanned facsimile pages, are available. Each title has a full citation record from the English Short Title Catalogue and is fully searchable - including full-text and illustrations. Available from Infotrac.

Elsevier Reference Works Online
Reference Works on ScienceDirect offer a comprehensive review of a field, ranging from the specialist studies to the multi-volume broad-based encyclopedias. An ideal starting point for research, the short articles and entries reference primary journal articles for more in-depth study. We currently subscribe to seven titles which are:-

Encyclopedia of Mathematics
One of the most important general reference works in maths, currently freely available. No search option, but can do this via Google (add the command site:eom.springer.de).

HeinOnline
The books here are "Legal Classics", over 1,000 works from the greatest legal minds, Maritime and Commercial Law (1930); Apologie for Women...an opposition to Dr G. who held that it was lawful for husbands to beate their wives (1609); Blackstone's Commentaries on the Laws of England (1765-1769).

i-law.com
Our subscription to i-law.com includes approximately forty books in the areas of maritime, commercial, insurance and arbitration law. Examples include Cooke on Voyage Charters, Briggs on Civil Jurisdiction and Judgments, Good Faith and Insurance Contracts by Eggers and the Arbitration Law Handbook by Born. i-law.com also includes journals and law reports in the same subject areas so these can be searched simultaneously if required.
Knovel
We have access to several titles, which are freely available to Higher Education. Keyword searches can be done across the full text of all titles, and 'Advanced Search' allows searching by properties too. Some titles available also include interactive features such as tables and graphs.

LexisLibrary
This legal database, used mainly for law reports and journals, also includes some books, both for the UK and for other jurisdictions. Most usefully, it has the full updated text of Halsbury's Laws of England.

Medieval Sources Online
Developed from the Manchester University Press Medieval Sources series, this is an exciting electronic project which provides the full text of all of the books in the series for students, academics, colleges and universities.

MyiLibrary
The library is developing its collection of ebooks on the MyiLibrary platform. The titles are mostly course texts; subjects covered include education, engineering, health, medicine, management and media studies.

NetLibrary (eBook Collection via EBSCOhost)
The Library has subscribed to many course reading list titles via NetLibrary, which is an internationally known platform for delivering electronic books. These electronic books mainly cover the areas of medicine, health, nursing, social and biological sciences. As a result of this subscription, we also get free access to a further 3,400 publicly accessible electronic books in all subject areas.

Oxford Scholarship Online is a vast and rapidly expanding cross-searchable library which now offers quick and easy access to the full text of Oxford books in Law.

These are listed on Webcat with direct links. You will need your University Institutional Login or SUHT NHS Athens username to access the full text. When you are logged into OVID, click on the 'continue' button and then on the 'Books' link to see a list of titles available.

Westlaw
Our subscription to Westlaw includes some legal books, largely from the USA, but there are some notable texts from the UK. These include Archbold on Criminal Pleading, Palmer's Company Law, Redfern & Hunter on Arbitration, and the C.I.P.A. Guide to the Patents Act.
