Hartley Library: Reserve Collection

The Hartley Library Reserve Collection is located to your left as you enter the Library, next to the Loans Desk. Any item being taken out of this Collection must be issued to you.

The Collection comprises:

  • books
  • quarto (oversize) books
  • pamphlets
  • periodicals
  • course boxes

Books are shelved in order of their call number. Books which are designated quarto, pamphlets and periodicals are shelved separately from the main sequence. Course boxes are arranged in alphabetical sequence (and numerical within that sequence) based on the course code.

Reference only Reserve material

Reference Only reserve material is identified by a red tag as opposed to the normal green tags. This material may only be used in the Reserve Collection and must not leave that area.

Opening times

The Reserve Collection is open whenever the Library is open.

Loan of Reserve Items

Self-issue and self-return has now been introduced to the Hartley Library Reserve Collection.  Items can now be borrowed and returned whenever the Library is open.  For details, please refer to the .

External returns box

If you need to return reserve collection items when the Library is closed, there is a post box in the wall immediately to the right of the Library entrance. Please do not return books here during Library opening items.
