Lifelong Learning

Study days

In addition to our 12 week courses, we also hold regular, one-day cultural events consisting of a series of short talks on a particular theme that are led by experts from within the English department.

In the coming year the English department will host three study days on the following topics:

‘Race and Resistance' 19 October 2013

‘Viewing the Past / Framing the Future: History, Heritage and the Cinema' 31 May 2014

‘Victorian Life' 28 June 2014

These days focus on a particular theme, but include a broad range of topics and issues for debate, and consist of a series of short talks led by experts from within the relevant department. Discussion and the opportunity to ask questions are a key feature of study days, so we like to keep the groups small and informal to encourage interaction. Or, simply come along to listen to the latest ideas on a subject. Book your place early to avoid disappointment!
