Reasearching marketing at the sharp end

Tom Chapman has joined the Southampton Management School as a Lecturer. Formerly, Tom held the position of Marketing Subject Group Leader at the University of Portsmouth Business School where he worked for seven years. With an MSc in Tourism Management and Marketing, and a BA (Hons) in Retail Management from Bournemouth University and membership of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Tom brings significant experience of both teaching and management of academic programmes.
Tom also has 10 years industry experience primarily in the services sector including business to business services in the recruitment software industry chiefly Customer Relationship Management (CRM) solutions, business to consumer in consumer electronics with Dixon Retail Plc, where he assisted with the marketing of Dixons, Currys and PC World in the Republic of Ireland and through public service as a police officer.
“I am interested in Internet and digital media technologies and their application with more traditional marketing practice. I am looking forward to the opportunities that Southampton has to offer in terms of applied research and consultancy with the wider business community,” says Tom.
At Southampton, he will be researching the economics and interactive nature of eMarketing with Management School colleagues in Digital Marketing.
