Second years Olivia Clark, Siobhan Sefton and Amie Lovell devised a new way for companies and organisations to link with the Southampton Management School to exchange ideas, find out about short courses and offer placements to students. They won the £250 first prize; the achievements of two runner up teams were also recognised with cash prizes.

Paul Benham, Managing Director of Benham Manufacturing in the New Forest, was one of the judges who watched the shortlisted teams make their presentations: “I was very impressed with the students’ suggestions. It is always good to have new perspectives to consider.”

Senior Fellow in Strategy, Graham Manville, organised the competition for 70 students taking the Entrepreneurial Management module, including undergraduates from disciplines including Geography and Social Sciences. “This is a great opportunity for our students to use their knowledge to address practical issues in the business world and gain valuable experience which will certainly help them in their careers,” he says.
