Improving the infrastructure of transport in the UK and overseas

High quality research is key to everything we do.  Our academic staff conduct significant research involving major companies and external organisations; their findings inform their teaching so students benefit from their up-to-date knowledge.

The importance and relevance of our research was recognised in the UK’s last research assessment (RAE 2008); 55 per cent of papers submitted for assessment were judged ‘world class’ or ‘internationally excellent’ in terms of originality, significance and rigour. Our postgraduate research students are pushing the frontiers of knowledge and contribute their findings to conferences worldwide.

Promoting excellence

Five research centres promote excellence in interdisciplinary research, consultancy and education in key management areas such as accountancy, banking, finance, risk and management science.

Making an impact

Healthcare, banking, logistics and supply chain management and digital marketing; our researchers are making a difference to our way of life and influencing leading companies in the UK and overseas.

Collaborating with others

Researchers at the School of Management join with partners from elsewhere in the University and beyond in joint projects, pushing the frontiers of knowledge.

Hitting the headlines

Our academics and students are always making the news. Find out what’s hitting the headlines from the School of Management.

“Rail companies want to increase traffic on the network but stations and junctions slow down trains. We will look at operational planning and scheduling to seek ways of making the most of existing systems and technologies, improving efficiencies while minimising delays.”
