Hi, I'm Alistair Howard and I studied BSc Maths within Mathematical Sciences at the University of Southampton.

For Alastair, it was a number of things that attracted him to the University. Primarily it was the passion of the department for its subject and the desire for students do well and become mathematicians. He was also impressed its reputation, the range of great facilities and the quality of the accommodation.

After starting at the University, he found that the University actively encouraged him to get involved with other aspects of student life. So while pursuing his passion for maths, he became an active member of the Student Council. He also ran the University’s Investment Society and the Good Food Society. This experience helped sharpen his business skills, while his maths degree gave him the versatility and attributes to maximise his business acumen.

While still an undergraduate, Alastair started his own business Cook Me Quick, receiving professional and investment support from the University that is specifically earmarked for launching entrepreneurial ideas. Cook Me Quick created meal kits consisting of all the fresh ingredients needed to make a meal for one in just 15 minutes.

After graduating in 2009, Alistair spent a year developing his entrepreneurial skills before joining PwC as a Management Consultant advising a variety of large businesses from across Europe. In 2013, he joined streetlife.com, a local social network that connects people to their neighborhoods. Here Alastair has been able to develop his entrepreneurial skills he developed at University.
