Students find out about actuarial careers

Published: 21 October 2014

The student-run Southampton University Actuarial Society (SUAS) has held its fourth annual careers fair.

Employers such as HSBC, the Institute & Faculty of Actuaries, PwC and LV= met students interested in careers as actuaries.

Students could discuss the graduate roles, internships and insight days that each company has to offer, and find out first hand what the day-to-day work of an actuary is like.

SUAS President, Daniel Cernin, said: "We believe that in today's competitive world, placements and internships are a must.

"The Fair helps students get a head-start and hopefully a competitive edge I the application process."

Membership of SUAS is not limited to Actuarial Studies students - any current student interested in pursuing a career in consulting or finance may find joining the society useful.    In addition to career events, SUAS also holds social and networking activities. To find out more, contact suas@soton.ac.uk
