I left a job as a research scientist to embark on the MSc, as Operational Research appealed to me as the perfect way to combine mathematics and creative problem solving in a less isolated environment, with exciting prospects.
Everyone at the University is so friendly, and you get to know so many people, that you can pretty much run into friends at in any part of campus, and just around Southampton altogether.
The whole experience of mixing with young people who didn't seem phased by age differences was a lot of fun. The quality of academic staff, each with their own style, is very high and their dedication to their students' success is inspirational.
The course provided me with a lot of opportunities and gave me examples to demonstrate each of the tick boxes alongside job applications including team working and independent thinking which made it a really useful degree in that aspect as well.
The University offers wide range of extra-curricular activities. These include student societies, sport clubs, field trips, etc. It is a very good opportunity to make new friends and relax from class.
I was very comfortable with Southampton having undertaken my undergraduate degree there and the reputation for Operational Research at Southampton was again excellent. The course covered a variety of topics and benefited from good industrial links, making the studies relevant.

I think the thing I enjoyed most about studying this degree is that we learnt both the applied and the theoretical side of the subject. So during the first half of my degree we learnt the theoretical side of it, and then in the second half of my degree we applied that theory using data and data analysis
The university enables the organisation of a number of careers fairs targeting every department along with guest lectures and representatives which helps students network and get involved in their choice of careers thus building that bridge to the professional world.
