Several research institutes are attached to the School, these include the Southampton Statistical Sciences Research Institute and the Centre for Operational Research Research, Management and Information Systems, which in 2007 won a multi-million share in a £12 million Science and Innovation Grant. We are also home to the largest General Relativity groups in Europe, currently in receipt of a £1.9 million rolling grant.
An interdisciplinary approach
In addition to our mathematical investigations our broad interests allow us to undertake, and offer graduate study in, interdisciplinary research. We have active collaborators in physics, chemistry, biology, medicine, optoelectronics, acoustics, engineering, social sciences and management schools around the world.
