Democracy Day

BBC's Democracy Day takes place on Tuesday 20 January, across BBC radio, TV and online. It is a look at democracy past and present, encouraging debate on its role and future.

As part of the day, BBC News online ran a feature about global rankings, which looked at public access to official data. It found that the UK government is the 'most transparent' in the world and central to that ranking was data.gov.uk, created by Southampton Professors Sir Nigel Shadbolt and Sir Tim Berners-Lee.

Find out how Southampton is leading the open data revolution.
