Event details

The Faculty Research Conference will take place on Thursday 19 June 2014. The conference will be followed by cheese and wine.

This one day Conference will showcase the wide range of high quality research being undertaken within the Faculty of Medicine by postdoctoral staff, clinical academic trainees and postgraduate research students and will be attended by senior members of staff within the Faculty.

The programme includes a speech by Nobel Prize winner Pr. Francoise BARRE-SINOUSSI, who will give a talk on "Achievements & Challenges in HIV science".

There are three prizes for the best publications:

Clinical Academic Trainee Research Paper Prize

Postdoctoral Research Prize

Wessex Medical Research Prize for Postgraduate Research in Biomedical Sciences

Speaker information

Pr. Francoise BARRE-SINOUSSI,,Professor at the Institut Pasteur, Research Director at the INSERM, France,Françoise BARRÉ-SINOUSSI is the Director of the "Regulation of Retroviral Infections" Unit in the Department of Virology at the Institut Pasteur in Paris. She is involved in retrovirology research, since the early 1970's and recognized for her contributions to HIV/AIDS research, in particular in the discovery of HIV. The research programmes of her team are focused on mechanisms required to protect against HIV/SIV infections and/or against early pathogenic signals induced by HIV/SIV.
