Current research

My current research interests lie within the field of second language acquisition and learner autonomy.  Areas of interest are the development of learner strategies and their impact on the language learning process; the role and impact of their year abroad in language learning progression; the effectiveness of the Southampton model where learners are allocated to stage according to language ability rather than year of study; the effectiveness of feedback and how to construct feedback that allows students to address areas for improvement
