Background
I joined the University of Southampton in 2002 after a long career in EFL as a teacher and teacher trainer, with specific experience in Business English and English for Academic Purposes. I was an IELTS examiner for many years and now administer the IELTS Test Centre at our university.
Research
Research Interests
I'm a member of GES (Global Englishes and English as a Lingua Franca Studies) with a particular interest in cognitive metaphor in ELF contexts.
Teaching Responsibilities
I teach advanced learners of English, as well as teaching on undergraduate courses in Teaching English as a Foreign Language and Language Teaching theory and practice.
Through the summer I direct Pre-sessional Course A.
