Miss Mary Page is a Senior Language Teaching Fellow in Modern Languages at the University of Southampton.

I joined the University of Southampton in 2002 after a long career teaching English as a Foreign Language, specialising in Teacher Training, English for Academic Purposes and English for Specific Purposes.

I was a Cambridge Suite examiner for many years, and also Administrator of the University of Southampton IELTS Test Centre.




Research interests

I am a founder member of the Centre for Global Englishes (CGE). 

My research interests lie within the field of English as a Lingua Franca (ELF) and English Medium Instruction (EMI) in Higher Education.

I direct, design and deliver bespoke courses for international academics in English Medium Instruction (EMI).

In addition, I teach advanced students of English Language (Stages 6 and 7), “Teaching English as a Foreign Language” (2nd year undergraduate module), and “Language Teaching Theory and Practice” (3rd year undergraduate module).

Other responsibilities include the Continuing Professional Development programme in English Language (CPDe).
