An elearning research and development group within Modern Languages involved in the delivery of elearning (online courses and resources),and research and development projects involving new technologies.

Research activities include:

  • design and development of online learning resources in study skills for use in online resource sets (toolkits). Available for licence.
  • design and development of online open learning resources. Available for educational purposes.
  • design and development of blended learning options and online courses (online Pre-sessional Course in EAP; online MA in ELT)
  • co-design and development of the LOC authoring tool for teachers
  • involved in design and development of OERs (open educational resources) and repositories for storing, sharing and retrieving teaching and learning resources
  • design and development of 3D virtual world environments (e.g. Second Life) for language learning and teaching purposes through integration with online and face-to-face courses
  • investigation of the affordances of new technologies in educational contexts
