Professional Lunchtime Concert Series
Chaconne Brass perform their first recital in Turner Sims, followed by a workshop for brass students from the Music Department.
Chaconne Brass was formed in 1984 and has established a reputation as one of Britain's most versatile ensembles. Its repertoire spans from Praetorius to Steve Reich, from Gershwin to Miles Davis, from Acoustic to Electro-acoustic and from Brass to Beyond...
Chaconne Brass has an ever-growing list of over 50 works written for the group, a large part of which has been recorded. In addition to extensive touring with Chaconne Brass, members work as guest principals and soloists with some of the top orchestras and ensembles in Britain.
The group are particularly well known for their collaborative work with artists from other cultures and musical genres. This side of their playing has seen the group work alongside the African Dancer and drummer Issa Sawane, Kora player Jally Kebba Susso, Tabla player Sukhvinder Singh Namdhari, Jazz saxophionist Ben Castle, Early Music Middle Eastern Specialist Belinda Sykes and Accordion player Karen Street
