Launched in 2007, the Centre for Medieval and Renaissance Culture (CMRC) links staff and research students with interests in antiquity and medieval and Renaissance culture across Humanities and Winchester School of Art.
This interdisciplinary centre also draws on the expertise of other colleagues within the University, and has links with individuals in the museums, galleries, and archival services of the City of Southampton and surrounding areas.
It offers an MA in Medieval and Renaissance Studies; it also aims to further research in this area by postgraduates and academic staff, to develop academic partnerships with individuals and groups in other universities (including those in the Worldwide Universities Network), to provide a programme of seminars and other events for specialists and the general public, and to engage in outreach work with local schools.
