NAMRIP members, including Dr Claire Jackson (Clinical and Experiemental Sciences) and Dr Rod Hervé (Centre for Biological Sciences), are regular contributors to 'Meet the Scientist' sessions.

Held at LifeLab, based in Southampton General Hospital, the program provides an opportunity for Secondary-level students to talk informally with scientists about their research, aiming to improve young people's health and inspire an interest in science.

Claire and Rod, recipients of NAMRIP Pump Priming funds, enjoy the opportunity to speak to students about Antimicrobial resistance and how they are tackling this issue within their own research. Claire is researching how simple sugars can combat bacterial infections and so protect cilia movement. Rod is investigating the use of Cold Atmospheric Plasma in the decontamination of reusable surgical instruments.
