Technology to combat biofilms on catheters

Biofilm development on surfaces is a major healthcare issue, leading to serious infection outbreaks.

Copper  has known antimicrobial properties.

Using advanced microscopy and viability techniques to improve our understanding of biofilm development and persistence on urinary catheters, we coat catheters with copper particles to hinder the growth of bacterial biofilms that cause urinary infections and blockages.
