The UK-China Summer School is a joint event organized by the University of Southampton and the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics, part of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

It will cover main research areas in Tribology and Surface Engineering and focus on nano-structured films/coatings, surface/interface of materials and nano/micro tribology.

Following from last year’s very successful UK-China Summer School at Lanzhou between 29th June – 3rd July 2009, we are pleased to invite you to this international workshop that will be held in Southampton, UK, 23rd-26th August, 2010.

Venue

Chilworth Manor Hotelfacilities at the venue This year’s summer school will be held at Chilwoth Manor Hotel. Set amidst twelve acres of beautiful landscaped grounds and located just north of Southampton City Centre, Chilworth Manor is a few minutes from both the M3 and M27.

Registration

Students and researchers majoring in Tribology and Surface Engineering studies in China and UK are encouraged to register for the summer school. Students will have an opportunity to submit their research for consideration for an oral or poster presentation on the third day, an extended abstract of which will be published in the conference proceedings.

The cost of the summer school is £150 which includes conference pack, free teas/coffees, lunches, a free drink at the drinks reception and the conference banquet (Tuesday night). Chilworth Manor Hotel has a limited number of twin and double rooms available for delegate use at a special summer school price of £65 per night (including breakfast). The registration deadline for delegates has now been extended to 16th August 2010. Please complete the registration form and e-mail it to: micro@soton.ac.uk

Upon receipt of registration form an invoice for the conference fee will be sent out and which must be paid for prior to attendance.

Abstract Submission

To submit an abstract for consideration for a 15 minute oral or poster presentation, please download the 1 page Abstract Template below, complete and e-mail to mirco@soton.ac.uk by 30th July 2010. Decisions about presentations will be made known week commencing 2nd August 2010.
