University of Southampton launches on iTunes U
The University of Southampton has today launched on iTunes U site, a dedicated area of the iTunes Store (www.itunes.co.uk), that offers free educational content from leading educational institutions.
The University site can be viewed at www.southampton.ac.uk/itunes and will enable staff, students, and the public access to free video and audio content which can be downloaded for free on a computer (Mac or PC), iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.
The University’s content features insight from student experience videos, case studies, filmed lectures, seminars and promotional compilations of research activity. Highlights of Southampton include:
- Spotlight on the University’s world-leading research, addressing some of the challenges faced by society and their real-world application;
- Postgraduate case studies, providing insight into the ambitious research work undertaken by students across a range of subject areas;
- Information about how students benefit from world-class facilities and teaching excellence that make Southampton one of the best learning environments in the UK.
Professor Debra Humphris, Pro Vice-Chancellor at the University of Southampton, says: "The iTunes U site is a very important development for Southampton. It will give current and prospective students an invaluable insight into the University’s world-leading research and vibrant campus-life. Crucially, it will also give academic staff a route to share their work with the wider-world in an easily accessible way.”
