The World Health Organistion released a report into air pollution which said Polluted environments kill 1.7 million children each year.

Romanian adoptees

University research that followed the mental health of a group of children adopted from Romanian institutions to UK families in the 1990s, showed experiencing severe deprivation and neglect in childhood can have a lasting psychological impact into early adulthood was featured by BBC News online.

Antibiotics for appendicitis

A study by researchers at the University of Southampton that showed that antibiotics may be an effective treatment for acute non-complicated appendicitis in children, instead of surgery was picked up by the media in outlets such as: The Guardian, The Sun, ITV News online and Nursing Times.

Obesity plan criticised

Professor Mark Hanson called into question the UK government’s action plan to reduce childhood obesity, in a paper published in the BMJ. Professor Hanson was interviewed by BBC Radio Solent, Wave 105, Heart FM, Talk Radio and Sky News Radio about the paper. The story also appeared in more than 200 regional newspapers.
