Philosophy PGR students, James Camien McGuiggan and Maria Mjaaland Sele, with the support of Lee Walters, have been awarded £4,000 by the British Society of Aesthetics to host its annual graduate conference in April 2016.

The conference will cover all approaches to and topics within aesthetics, but will have a special focus on modern art-forms (including film, computer art, comics, video games, etc.). The keynote speakers will be Aaron Meskin (Leeds) and Katherine Thomson-Jones (Oberlin) and further details of the conference will be announced in due course. This is the second major graduate philosophy conference to be awarded to Southampton this year, with the British Postgraduate Philosophy Association Conference taking place here in June 2015.
