Our academic staff and research groups have extensive international connections and at university level we have many links with key universities around the world. We offer a range of opportunities for our postgraduate students to study in another country as part of their programme. We also offer opportunities for international postgraduate students to study at Southampton.
Worldwide Universities Network (WUN)
The University is a founder member of the Worldwide Universities Network (WUN) – a partnership of leading institutions in the UK, US, China and Europe, which are committed to working together in research and education in rapidly moving areas of global significance.
Erasmus exchanges
The University has a range of Erasmus links with universities across the European Union, Norway, Romania and Turkey which are open to postgraduate students from the University and partner institutions who are able to spend a minimum of 3 months studying abroad.
Postgraduate programmes with an international component
We offer several courses in collaboration with other European institutions, such as:
- MSc in Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation for Environmental Modelling and Management (GEM)
This course is supported by the prestigious EU funded Erasmus Mundus programme. Students spend several months at the University’s School of Geography, the University of Lund in Sweden, and ITC in the Netherlands. - European Doctorate in Sound and Vibration Studies
The University’s Institute of Sound and Vibration Research is one of 8 hosting institutions where students can undertake research as part of their doctoral studies. - European PhD Socio-Economic and Statistical Studies
The Division of Social Statistics is a participant in the European PhD in Socio-economic and Statistical Studies. This is an interdisciplinary qualification characterised by a wide disciplinary range of material covered. You will spend at least two periods during the four years of the programme studying in different partner universities in Europe.
