Information about safety and security in Southampton

Health and wellbeing

All new students should join a doctors' practice when they arrive at the University.

Southampton

There are two National Health Service (NHS) practices on the Highfield campus:

Winchester

The nearest National Health Service practice to our Winchester campus is St. Clements Surgery.

Alternatively, you can search for a practice on the NHS website.

Sport and leisure

The University has a wide range of sport and leisure facilities across Southampton.

Membership of the University's sport and leisure facilities is great value. As a pre-sessional student, you can become a member for the duration of your pre-sessional programme and then renew your memership when you start your main degree programme.

Computing services

This short video will give you some information about the University's computing services. To access these services you must set up your computing account and email address.

You will have access to over 1,300 public workstations and free WiFi across all our campuses, as well as specialist support provided by the University's professional IT service: iSolutions.

Safety

In general, Southampton is a safe place to live, but for added reassurance, we at the University of Southampton take the safety and security of our students very seriously.

We have a dedicated security service that operates 24 hours a day, every day of the year and is always available to assist with any security related issues.

The Students’ Union can put you in touch with a local liaison police officer who is always happy to speak to students. Contact details are available on the Union’s website.
