Research

Psychology at Southampton is one of the foremost research-led psychology departments in the UK.  Our team includes approximately 50 academic staff and 150 postdoctoral and postgraduate researchers. As one of the largest UK providers of postgraduate research training, we offer MSc programmes (Research Methods, Health and Clinical), research doctorates (PhD), and Doctoral Programmes in Clinical Psychology and Educational Psychology.

Our rigorous experimental research investigates the brain and behaviour in health and disease, and translates into benefits for society and industry.  We have strategic partnerships with NHS Trusts, schools, Government and industry and attract significant investment from all major research funders.  The 2014 Research Excellence Framework rated 100 per cent of our research activity as internationally excellent or world-leading in terms of its impact and the research environment we offer.  Within each of our four Research Centres, state-of-the-art research facilities are supported by a team of highly experienced technicians.
