Applications in social sciences
Research in statistical modelling in S3RI is strongly motivated by applications. In particular, the research on estimating internal and international migration in the Policy and Evaluation programme generates significant research questions concerning statistical methodology for modelling categorical data. See project links below. S3RI researchers have also developed Bayesian methodology for estimating European migration flows, combining information from different sources. Researchers in this area also play a key role in the population modelling group of the Centre for Population Change.
