Student Services Centre
Is the contact point for those students wishing to apply for the Access to Learning Fund which offers non repayable Grants, Access to Higher Education Bursaries, Post-Graduate Bursaries, and repayable Short Term Loans. We also collate information regarding Scholarships, in order to advise students effectively, and work in partnership with the Student Loan Company in administering the University Bursary Scheme.
Is responsible for the production and replacement of identity cards for staff, students, contractors and university visitors, and for the development of Smartcard applications such as card operated door-entry systems, e-purses, and other integrated "one-card" solutions. The service works closely though partnerships with Business & Community Services and Estates & Facilities to maintain & provide card facilities to customers. The service also has a link with the Southampton City Council 'Smartcities' ID card scheme in helping to provide access to Southampton City Libraries.
We are involved in taking forward Student Services commitment to student centredness, specifically looking at how technology can help further support students to empower them in their studies. This section contains information about our current projects.
Provides administration, information and support to the University Community in all aspects of student housing in halls of residence and the private rented sector. The Office has a direct contact network throughout the Faculties and works closely with Business and Community Services to run the halls. In partnership with Southampton City Council and Southampton Solent University, the Office leads on delivery of the Southampton Accreditation Scheme for Student Housing (SASSH) for students and private landlords. In addition we offer a free, confidential advisory service and a wide range of handbooks, leaflets and checklists covering the full range of housing topics.
Is part of the Student Resources Network. We deal with the provision of Student Accommodation, provide new and replacement ID cards for students and staff, deal with the applications for student Hardship Funding. The University Graduation Service, one of the highlights of the academic year is also part of SSC.
We also provide a wide range of administration and support services to students, such as payment of Tuition and Halls of Residence fees.
We work in partnership with other Professional Services, especially Finance and Business and Community Services.
