Undergraduate courses

Our programmes are accredited by the Royal Aeronautical Society. Our four-year MEng programmes meet all the academic requirements for registration as a Chartered Engineer. Our three-year BEng programme meets many of the academic requirements for registration as a Chartered Engineer, although graduates must undertake postgraduate study to achieve Chartered status.

The same entry requirements apply for both the BEng and MEng programmes. You can transfer from BEng to MEng, or vice versa, during your studies (subject to progression regulations). In most cases, you can transfer from one programme to another up to the second year (with the exception of Space Systems Engineering, H400), which differs from the Aeronautics & Astronautics programmes in Year 2).

We also offer the Engineering Foundation Year (UCAS Code H008) as an alternative entry to study at university.

BEng Aeronautics & Astronautics Designed for students who wish (or need) to complete their studies in 3 years. In the first two years the course content is identical to that of the MEng (H401) programme. H422
MEng Aeronautics & Astronautics 4 year programme which offers you the opportunity to study a more extensive range of aerospace subjects at advanced level than the BEng course. H401
MEng Aeronautics & Astronautics / Advanced Materials 4 year programme concerned with assessing and improving materials performance in a wide range of structures and devices with application to airframes, aeroengines and aerospace systems HJ45
MEng Aeronautics & Astronautics / Aerodynamics 4 year programme in which you will learn about the design and integration of wings and propulsion systems for aerospace. H490
MEng Aeronautics & Astronautics / Airvehicle Systems Design 4 year programme designed to provide you with an aeronautical focus to your study. It covers helicopters and fixed wing aircraft, engine design and avionics. H491
MEng Aeronautics & Astronautics / European Studies 4 year course with European Studies and a year abroad, following a multi-disciplinary programme which allows you to work and study with specialists in other disciplines H425

Please note: For 2009 entry we are offering direct entry onto several new programmes which were previously offered as themes under H401 MEng Aeronautics and Astronautics. Some of our programmes will be changing their name from Aerospace Engineering to Aeronautics and Astronautics to reflect the strengths of the teaching within the School, although the content will remain unchanged.
