5th International Conference on Hydroelasticity in Marine Technology

Hydroelasticity 2009, the 5th International Conference on Hydroelasticity in Marine Technology was held at the University of Southampton, 8-10 September 2009. The conference was attended by 80 delegates from North and South America, Asia, Australia and Europe. 37 papers were presented focussing on the dynamic behaviour of ships, offshore structures, floating bridges, air cushion supported structures and marine risers, examining analytical, numerical and experimental methods for the evaluation of environmental loads. The papers appear in the Proceedings of the conference, edited by Professor P.Temarel and Dr. S.E.Hirdaris and published by the University of Southampton. The conference was sponsored by Lloyd’s Register. The keynote lecture was delivered by Professor Vaughan Pomeroy, Technical Director at Lloyd’s Register, focussing on hydroelasticity research outcomes to enhance maritime safety.
