Entry requirements

This information is for general guidance only; entry requirements vary for different courses. For more specific details, please visit the relevant course web page or contact the admissions office for your chosen subject area.

Foundation year entry requirements 

If you do not have the traditional entry requirements for our undergraduate courses, you may be able to qualify by doing one of our foundation years first. To find out more, visit our foundation years page, contact one of our Ugandan representatives or contact the International Office team.

Undergraduate entry requirements

To be considered for a place on one of our undergraduate (bachelors) degrees, you will need:

High grades in Ugandan Advanced Level exams 
High grades in UK A levels 
Between 28 and 38 points in the International Baccalaureate (IB) 
A recognised foundation year programme 

Postgraduate entry requirements

Masters programmes

A first or upper second class (1st or 2:1) bachelor degree awarded by a recognised university. 

UK 1st equivalent: 1st, or GPA 4.4
UK 2.1 equivalent: 2.1, or GPA 4.0

PhD programmes

Good grades in bachelors and masters degrees awarded by a recognised university, and a strong research proposal

UK 1st equivalent: 1st, or GPA 4.4
UK 2.1 equivalent: 2.1, or GPA 4.0

English language entry requirements

You will need to be able to demonstrate the required level of English language proficiency. We require a letter from the student's previous institution to confirm they teach in English combined with the student having achieved at least a pass in their Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE).

Student-run clubs and societies

Getting involved in clubs and societies is a great way to meet other students from your country and from around the world. There are many societies run by the University's Students' Union (SUSU) for different interests, religions, sports and academic groups.
