Foundation year entry requirements

If you do not have the traditional entry requirements for our undergraduate courses, you may be able to qualify by doing one of our foundation programmes first. To find out more, visit our foundation years page or contact the International Office team.

Undergraduate entry requirements

To be considered for a place on one of our undergraduate (bachelors) degrees, you will need:

GCE A Levels taken in Singapore

High grades in 3-year post O Level Polytechnic Diploma

Between 28 and 38 points in the International Baccalaureate (IB)

High grades in UK A levels

Recognised Foundation Courses taken in the UK, Australia and Canada

Postgraduate entry requirements

Masters programmes

Bachelors degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0

UK 1st equivalent: 1st or GPA 3.5 out of 4.0 or, minimum Honours degree with CAP of 4.5 plus minimum grade of A- for dissertation or major project for NUS graduates.

UK 2:1 equivalent: 2:1 or GPA 3.0 out of 4.0 or, minimum Honours degree with CAP of 4.0 to 4.49 (inclusive) for NUS graduates

PhD programmes

Good grades in bachelors and masters degrees awarded by a recognised university, and a strong research proposal

English language entry requirements

You will need to be able to demonstrate the required level of English language proficiency. Students from Singapore who have achieved Cambridge O Level – English grade C+ may be exempted from additional English language requirements.

Second year entry to a world-class education in Electronics and Computer Science

If you gained your diploma from Nanyang, Ngee Ann, Singapore or Temasek polytechnic, you may be eligible to directly access the second year of Southampton’s electrical, electronic, electrical and electronic, and mechatronic engineering programmes

Getting involved in clubs and societies is a great way to meet other students from your country and from around the world. There are many societies run by the University's Students' Union (SUSU) for different interests, religions, sports and academic groups.
