How does society work? How have communities evolved and developed and what can the experience of the past tell us about the future?
Southampton sociologists and academics in social policy and applied social sciences explore a wide range of issues in their work.
Our research was ranked third in the country in the 2008 research assessment exercise. We host programmes in sociology, sociology and social policy, and applied social sciences (anthropology, criminology, criminology and psychological studies and the general pathway) and have a range of new programmes available for 2014. Our academics from these disciplines explore topical areas such as crime, education, work and social inequality. This research informs their teaching, so you will learn directly from specialists about these fascinating subjects.
