Southampton sociologists, criminologists and academics in social policy and anthropology explore a wide range of issues in their work.
Our research was ranked third in the country in the 2008 research assessment exercise. We host programmes in sociology, social policy, criminology and sociology with anthropology and have a range of new programmes available for 2014. Our academics from these disciplines explore topical areas such as crime, education, work and social inequality. This research informs their teaching, so you will learn directly from specialists about these fascinating subjects.
We aim to promote and undertake research which is methodologically innovative and at the cutting edge of contemporary social theory.
