Our research

Economic, Social and Political Sciences academics are world-leading researchers in these key subjects – ageing/gerontology, economics, politics and international relations, social statistics and demography, sociology, social policy, criminology and anthropology.

Our research culture fuses specialist research excellence and world-class interdisciplinary work across Economics, Social & Political Sciences. We lead many collaborations across the University and are forging a number of strategic external partnerships with government departments and other international agencies.

Recognition of research excellence

Economic, Social and Political Sciences has performed well in REF 2014 with research from Criminology, Demography, Gerontology and Sociology rated Top 5 in the country
