Schools Liaison

Hands on displays at a Schools Liaison eventThe School of Ocean and Earth Science is actively developing a Schools Liaison Programme for Earth Science teachers and pupils. We are aiming to provide educational support encompassing elements of the National Curriculum and subject-specific science examinations (at GCSE, AS, and A2 levels), in addition to UCAS /career briefings.

We hope to be able to offer a variety of educational resources in the form of short (INSET) courses for teachers, practical coursework exercises and materials, web-based teaching resources and residential Earth Science courses/revision courses for AS/A2-level students. This programme will be supplemented by other activities including lecturing staff offering to visit schools to deliver thematic talks and practical exercises/demonstrations and inviting school parties to the National Oceanography Centre to see science implemented in the working environment.

An example of this is Discover Oceanography the chance to experience 'hands on' science aboard the School of OceanĀ and Earth Science's research vessel RV Callista

We are always happy to organise tours of our facilities or provide help and advice to teachers or students wishing to apply for a degree through UCAS.
