Molecules to mind

Welcome to the SoNG, the Southampton Neurosciences Group. This group was established in 2001 to provide a focus for collaborative, interdisciplinary and applied neuroscience at the University of Southampton.  SoNG members are united by a common interest in studying the brain and neural function in health and disease and our shared aim is to ensure that fundamental research underpins clinical and technical advances and brings benefit to society.

On these pages you will find information about workshops and seminars organised by SoNG, about our network for Early Career Researchers, examples of our collaborative research and enterprise activity.

SoNG members (from undergraduates and up) are strongly encouraged to join the British Neuroscience Association, the professional body for neuroscientists in the UK. The BNA provides financial support for our local activities and seminars based on the level of membership. It also runs a number of national annual events, including the Annual SoNG meeting, now in it's ninth year and the highly enjoyable Christmas symposium, that are free to the membership.

If you have any news/comments for SoNG, please send it to Debbie Buck db5@soton.ac.uk

“SoNG provides an umbrella, under which this breadth of work, from basic through to applied neuroscience, can gain maximum benefit from expertise across a broad range of disciplines and is permitting new and innovative approaches to real problems".
