STAG Research CentreSeminars

Information for Gravity seminar speakers

The majority of the Gravity group is located on level 2 and 5. If Nils Andersson (2nd floor, Room 2021), Leor Barack (Room 2007), or Kostas Skenderis (5th floor, Room 5021) are not in, please make contact with any group member.  They will give you somewhere to sit, point you toward coffee, etc...

For your talk, please keep in mind the varied interests and knowledge levels of the audience and aim to talk for about 45 minutes maximum. You may be interrupted by questions during your talk, and we also like to leave time for questions afterwards. If you are giving an electronic presentation, please have your talk on a USB stick if possible in case we have problems connecting your laptop to the projector. Alternatively, you can email us your talk in advance.

Please keep receipts for expenses that you wish to claim back.

In case of problems getting here, please call Nils (office: 02380 595134), Leor (mobile: 07726 859634, office: 02380 595134), or Kostas (office: 02380 592332).

Travel Information

Arrival by car

Please see here. We can arrange a parking space if you let us know in advance (must be at least one day in advance).

Arrival by train

The campus (and nearby hotels) is best reached by taking a train to Southampton Airport station and from there a taxi (or the 'Unilink' bus) to the Highfield Campus. Get a taxi from in front of the railway station building, not outside the airport building, since it is cheaper and you do not have to book. The taxi journey should take ~10 minutes and cost 7-9 pounds. Ask the driver to drop you by the Maths building, which is near the north-west corner of the Highfield campus.

Alternatively you can take trains to Southampton Central station and get a taxi or bus to campus.

Arrival by plane

If you arrive at Southampton airport, you can take a taxi (or the 'Unilink' bus) to the Highfield Campus. If you arrive at another airport (e.g., Gatwick or Heathrow), take the train to Southampton (see above). International arrival information can be found here.
