To help make ends meet, some of our students work part-time. We run a Temp Bank, which can find you work across the University – for example, in the Students’ Union, libraries or the University offices.
Temporary bar work
A student works behind the bar in the Student Union
It’s a great way of making extra money and has been designed to accommodate student timetables.
This is how it works:
- You provide details of your availability and become part of a 'bank' of people available for work at the University
- A wide variety of work is available at all times of the day, so you can find something to fit around your existing commitments
- Secretarial and clerical work is available if you have proficiency in at least one word-processing package
- Other work includes catering, domestic, telephone operations, administration, occasional driving, manual work and working as a porter or campus guide
- International students can only work a maximum of 20 hours per week because of visa restrictions.

You should try not to take on too much additional work as study time is very important.
