Since 2004 the research efforts conducted by Gift at Sight, along with the assistance of colleagues from around the world, have resulted in a significant number of patients having treatments that bring a significant improvement to their sight.
The Gift of Sight Appeal was established in 2004 by Andrew Lotery, Professor of Ophthalmology at the University. The aim of the Appeal is to raise funds to support investigation into the prevention and treatment of blindness. This funding enables our research team to combine laboratory work with treating patients in the clinic enabling our patients to benefit quickly from scientific developments. To date donations to the Gift of Sight Appeal have resulted in significant breakthroughs in the understanding and treatment of common causes of blindness.
