The University offers more than 5000 places in 20 halls of residence and is one of the largest providers of university accommodation in the UK.
We offer all full time, registered* UK/EU undergraduate students a place in halls during their first year of study. All full time, registered* international students joining us in 2013 are guaranteed a place in halls for their first year of study and one subsequent year.
Our guarantees are subject to the following criteria:

You normally live outside the Southampton City boundaries

You make the University of Southampton your Firm choice (for undergraduate students only)

Your application is received by 1 August in the year in which your studies commence

You are unaccompanied, i.e. you do not bring any dependants, such as a partner and/or children.
* Full time and studying for a complete academic year.
If you have made us your Insurance choice, you will be offered accommodation in a twin share room for the start of term, as long as you meet the other terms of the guarantee. You would then be offered a single room as soon as one becomes available; typically this would be within the first six weeks of term.

In years of exceptional demand, in order to meet our guarantee we may offer accommodation in twin-shared rooms to firm-choice students for a short period at the start of the academic year. We may also offer accommodation provided by Liberty Living, a private provider that offers good quality rooms in two halls in Southampton, Liberty Point and Liberty Quays.
