Unless you are a mature student, you will need to satisfy the University’s general entrance requirements as well as those set by the academic unit you wish to enter.
Our entry requirements vary from course to course.
Each academic unit sets its own entrance requirements, and you will usually be required to attain required grades.
Required grades can be found on each course page, use the undergraduate degrees listing page to find your course.
The University welcomes applications from candidates offering a broad range of qualifications. These typically include GCE A levels and AS levels, Scottish Highers and Advanced Highers, Welsh Baccalaureate, International Baccalaureate Diploma, Cambridge Pre-U, Access to HE Diplomas, BTECs, many European and international qualifications, and also combinations of qualifications.
If you are taking (or have taken) qualifications not listed on the course pages, admissions tutors will be happy to advise you on entry requirements for their courses.
The University of Southampton is committed to recruiting talented students who have the potential to succeed at the University regardless of their educational or social background. We recognise that A-Level grades alone cannot tell us everything about an applicant's abilities or personal circumstances.
We have developed the Access to Southampton (A2S) scheme to provide special consideration and financial support to students who meet our eligibility criteria.
