Whatever your special educational need, we have a service to suit you.
Our specialist staff are highly trained and ready to help.
The Dyslexia Services team provides services for students with specific learning difficulties, such as dyslexia and dyspraxia. We also provide advice on the Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA), assessment of current needs and individual tutorial support to improve academic study skills.
The team will also arrange educational psychologist assessments if necessary. If you have a specific learning difficulty, you will need to register with the Dyslexia Services team to ensure that you get the support you need.
Enabling Services consists of three teams: the Disability Advice and Support Team, Mentoring and the Ancillary Learning Support Service. These teams aim to enable every student to reach their full potential at university by providing support, information and advice tailored to meet individual needs.
Enabling Services aims to support students to take part as fully and as equitably as possible in every aspect of university life - not just in academic activities.
The Counselling Service provides support for all students and staff of the University. Experienced and professionally qualified counsellors are there to help you tackle personal, academic or work related issues.
The Wessex Needs Assessment Centre provides specialist assessments for students with disabilities and specific learning difficulties (dyslexia), many of whom are eligible for the Disabled Students' Allowances (DSA). After an initial assessment you will have access to ongoing support, advice and guidance. We offer assessment and training to all UK students in receipt of DSAs.
