Visiting the University is a great opportunity to see the campus and find out what it’s really like to live and study here. You'll be able to see our state-of-the-art student facilities, including the Hartley Library, Jubilee Sports Centre and Students’ Union.
Open day
Our open day student volunteers are walking encyclopaedias on life at Southampton.
Campus Tours
Our Campus Tours are led by one of our Student Ambassadors, who will guide you on a tour of our main Highfield Campus and a hall of residence.
UCAS and Higher Education fairs
We attend most of the UCAS and Higher Education fairs in England and Wales, between March and July each year.
Academic School visits and open days
We hold subject-specific visits and open days which provide you with an opportunity to visit the Academic School running your chosen course.
Independent Visits
If you are unable to attend any of our events, you are welcome to visit at any time. A Walking Tour leaflet of the main Highfield Campus is available from the University's main reception (Building 37). Or you can download it here:
Audio podcast
We have produced an audio tour of the Highfield Campus, together with an overview of our other campuses. The podcast is designed to be played on a mobile device such as an iPod or MP3 player, and is best used in conjunction with the Walking Tour Map. You can obtain a hard copy map from University Reception in Building 37 on weekdays only.
We recommend using an alternative route for part of the tour if you are a wheelchair user. Please refer to the accessible route map for assistance.
Download the audio podcast here.
Departmental visits
If you would like visit a specific department independently, please contact the Academic Unit directly to find out what opportunities may be available. Please note that Academic Schools are not open at weekends.
