I would highly recommend the University of Southampton, Highfield and Malaysia campus, to ambitious Egyptian students who are looking to kick-start their career, not only due to the university’s reputation but also due to wide international community at the university and the friendly staff who will offer you help both on the academic and personal sides of your journey.

Why did you choose to study at the University of Southampton?

I have chosen to study at the University of Southampton due to the fact that its reputation in engineering is unmatched. As it is always ranked as the top universities in the UK. I have also chosen Southampton due to the 2+2 course option where I get to spend my first two years in Southampton’s Malaysia Campus, which offers a very high staff:student ratio and a more personal experience at a fraction of the cost.

What were your first impressions of the University of Southampton?

My first impression was that all the members of the staff were easy going and approachable, which really helped me in settling in my new life. In addition, although my course seemed to be challenging I was able to polish my skills and progress.

What is your favourite spot on campus?

As and Electrical and Electronic engineering student, I have always found the EEE lab to be the favourite spot on campus, not only for me but for all my friends and course-mates, mostly due to the fact that I am able to work there 24/7 and benefit from the state-of-the-art facilities at any time.

Would you recommend the University of Southampton to students from your home country?

I would highly recommend the University of Southampton, Highfield and Malaysia campus, to ambitious Egyptian students who are looking to kick-start their career, not only due to the university’s reputation but also due to wide international community at the university and the friendly staff who will offer you help both on the academic and personal sides of your journey.

What will you do with your degree after you have finished your studies?

Although I have not yet decided whether I would go for a technical job or a postgraduate course, I am quite sure that the knowledge and skills I have gained while studying at Southampton and the high employability of Southampton’s graduates will make me ready and fit for the next step of my journey.
