Entry requirements

This information is for general guidance only; entry requirements vary for different courses. For more specific details, please visit the relevant course web page or contact the admissions office for your chosen subject area.

Foundation year entry requirements 

International Foundation Year (progressing to undergraduate degree in management, humanities, arts and social sciences)	433 for HKDSE Form 6, excluding liberal studies and Chinese
Engineering Foundation Year (progressing to undergraduate courses in engineering, physics, computer science and geophysics)	544 for HKDSE Form 6, without extended maths module
Science Foundation Year (progressing to undergraduate courses in biology, chemistry and other science-related courses)	544 for HKDSE Form 6 Please note that this course does not progress to an undergraduate degree in medicine.

Undergraduate entry requirements

To be considered for a place on one of our undergraduate (bachelors) degrees, you will need:

HKDSE: 554/5*55 depending on subjects Engineering programmes require a 5 in maths (with extended modules) and/or physics Science programmes require a 5 in maths and a science subject

International Baccalaureate (IB): Between 28 and 38 points

Associate degrees will be considered for first or second year entry to the University's bachelors degree programmes

Postgraduate entry requirements

Masters programmes	Bachelors degree with a minimum GPA of 2.8 out of 4.0  UK 1st equivalent: 3.5 UK 2.1 equivalent: 2.8
PhD programmes	Good grades in bachelors and masters degrees awarded by a recognised university, and a strong research proposal UK 1st equivalent: 3.5 UK 2.1 equivalent: 2.8

English language entry requirements

You will need to be able to demonstrate the required level of English language proficiency. We accept HKDSE Grade 4 as equivalent to IELTS 6.5. Find out more about our English language requirements and support.
